An Unexpected Restaurant Closure at Universal Orlando

If you are heading to Universal soon, you will need to know about the closure of one very popular restaurant. See if it affects your trip.

Refurbishments and Closures

No one likes to hear that maintenance or even a full-blown refurbishment will be taking place in a theme park during their visit. This is especially true if it is for an attraction or a restaurant that you and your travel party have on your must-do list.

However, refurbishments are necessary to keep the attractions maintained and safe for everyone. After all, safety needs to be a priority in order for everyone to have fun.

Universal Studios Orlando has several planned refurbishments. These include E.T. Adventure, Revenge of the Mummy, Fast & Furious , and MEN IN BLACK™ Alien Attack™. You can see the dates in the links. However, we did not expect a restaurant closure.

Temporary Closure

Yesterday, Universal added a temporary closure to its website. For now, visitors cannot dine at Illuminations’ Minion Cafe.

Minion Cafe is a popular place for fans of the Despicable Me franchise to grab a bite to eat. Guests love dishes like inventive cuisine such as Otto’s Noodle Bowl, Carl’s Crispy Cauliflower, Agnes’ Honeymoon Soup, Fluffy’s Unicorn Cupcake. And don’t forget about Minion-shaped tots!

According to the website, the temporary closure of Illumination’s Minion Cafe will last from May 13-May 18. Hopefully whatever is amiss will be fixed soon!

Where to Eat Instead

Don’t worry, there are still plenty of places to enjoy good food in Universal Orlando! We have a couple of good recommendations for you during your visit to Universal Studios Orlando.

Minion Cafe will be closed through May 18.

If you love Harry Potter, you can find delicious offerings at Leaky Caudron. Even better, you can head next door to Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream Parlour for ice cream straight out of the stories!

If you are looking for pizza, look no further than Louie’s Italian restaurant. It serves New York-style slices, and it is VERY good for theme park pizza.
