Disney Skyliner Shuts Down After Almost Trapping a Guest

Are you a fan of the Disney Skyliner? We thought we had seen it all with Disney Skyliner crashes, but this guest incident leaves us scratching our heads. What do you think of this near miss?

Disney Resort guests can enjoy free transportation all throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. This free transportation is a great perk, and there are many options based on the resort and the parks the guests will visit.

These include buses, boats, monorails, and the Skyliner. For guests staying at resorts along the Disney Skyliner, the Skyliner is the only transportation option when traveling to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT.

There are times when the Disney Skyliner is down such as for weather and guests may use bus transportation. Many times other things may shut down the Disney Skyliner.

Disney Skyliner Shuts Down

As wonderful as the Disney Skyliner is, it is not without disadvantages as mentioned above. Recently, the Disney Skyliner shut down for a different reason.

It appears that as a guest exited her Skyliner gondola that the guest made it out, but her backpack did not. As the Skyliner shut down for a temporary closure, guests noticed a backpack stuck in between the automatic gondola doors.

Thankfully the guest was able to exit safely, but you can see in the video how the Cast Members had to forcefully shove the backpack into the gondola cabin while the entire Skyliner came to a stop. Thank you to @makingthemagicwithsav for this video.

Safety Tips

We are not sure how this happened, but we are thankful that the guest was safe. When using the Disney Skyliner exit as quickly as you are able.

A guest’s backpack stuck in the gondola doors caused the Skyliner to close temporarily.

It may be a good idea to hold all bags and gear in your hands as you exit the gondola. Cast Members are present as gusts exit the gondolas at all stops. Be sure to alert a Cast Member if you need assistance.
