The Walt Disney Company’s CEO now has a new title to add to his resume. And this one was given to him by Prince William!
Bob Iger
Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger returned to the Walt Disney Company in November 2022. After his return was announced, he shared that he expected to be with the company for two years while he looked for a sucessor.
Many probably felt this was short term, but his contract has been extended through 2026 after a unanimous vote.
The Board of Directors noted that Iger’s extension provides continuity of leadership during the company’s ongoing transformation, and allows more time to execute a transition plan for CEO succession, which remains a priority for the Board.
New Title
Iger is now officially a knight! Prince William presented him with the title of Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (KBE).
The ceremony took place in Windsor, England on Tuesday, June 4. However, he was given the honor back in September 2022 by Queen Elizabeth II before she passed away. Check out his tweet below:
“It is one of the great honors of my life to have the honorary Knight of the British Empire conferred on me by Queen Elizabeth II before she passed. I have great affection for the people of the UK & have always appreciated and been inspired by their extraordinary contributions.”
More Remarks
Iger was joined by his wife and three children during the ceremony that took place in England. His wife made the following remarks on an Instagram post (and shared more pictures):
Today at Windsor Castle, Bob received an honorary Knight of the Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) presented by William, Prince of Wales. Truly an incredible experience and a proud family moment.
