Voyage of the Little Mermaid has been MIA since March 2020, and Disney shared way back in December that a new show will take its place. You can read about that HERE.

The show will be titled “The Little Mermaid-A Musical Adventure” and is a reimagined theatrical production. It will debut in the fall of 2024 and will feature new set pieces, effects, and a new design. In addition, the theater will be refreshed!

Disney released concept art, which you can see above. Judging by the looks of it we can still expect a dark show. Ariel and Prince Eric are in the “kissing scene” boat as Flounder, Sebastian, and other sea creatures look on.

New Concept Art

Disney shared concept art of the show (different from the original), and this one shows Prince Eric and Ariel in human form. King Triton, Flounder, Sebastian, and Max look on.

The show will also feature puppetry as well. Disney really enjoys using puppets in its live shows, and this one will be no different.

It takes a lot to put a whole new show together! Disney also went more in depth (no pun intended) into the making of The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure.

A Closer Look into the Show

“We thought about what Ariel’s room may look like and came up with this collage style that you’ll see woven throughout the production,” said Sarah Schmidt, Creative Concept Artist & Illustrator for Disney Live Entertainment. “This new look really informed every design decision – from scenic, to the puppets, even the custom digital content being created for the show.”

Disney shares that there will also be a live version of Ursula on stage and an animated version created using motion-capture technology. You can read the story in full HERE.
