The Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade Will Close for a New Experience

Frontierland has been one area of Magic Kingdom that has received a lot of extra attention lately. Now, Disney is closing the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade for a new experience. Find out what will replace it.

For the last few years, there has been a lot of talk about one area in the Magic Kingdom: Frontierland. The biggest being the closing of Splash Mountain and the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Country Bear Musical Jamboree will also reopen this summer with some new changes.

We are also excited to hear about the possibility of Disney’s Blue Sky Project: Beyond Big Thunder. Hopefully, more details regarding that project will be announced sooner rather than later.

Some mainstays like Tom Sawyer’s Island and the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade remain untouched while much of the area receives updates. However, that will be changing soon.

Located near the Country Bear Musical Jamboree is the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade. This fun little play place allows Guests to try their hands at shooting moving and stationary targets.

This attraction has been in the park since it opened in 1971. Rumors began it would close back in 2021 when the attraction closed indefinitely. However, it has remained open since.

Unfortunately, you will want to get in a few more target practices in because Disney confirmed it will be closing.

So, what will take over this space? Disney Vacation Club will have a new lounge for Members to enjoy in the park. Work will begin sometime this year, and the last day to enjoy the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade is June 23, 2024.

Personally, I’m sad to see this opening day attraction leave the park. It’s great for DVC Members but these fun little experiences are slowly disappearing.

I knew it! Disney has removed all images of Davy Crockett from Ft Wilderness also, even in Crockett's Tavern. Why, you ask? Because he carried a rifle. Crockett's Tavern had a wonderful portrait of Fess Parker as Davy Crocket, holding his beloved rifle, "Betsy." Now, all gone. Friends, Davy Crockett was a frontiersman. They carried rifles! I hope Disney retained that lovely portrait and Betsy, so that Bob Iger's replacement can put them back up. Closing the Frontierland Shooting Gallery ads one more step in the "wimpification" of America's youth. Shame on you, Bob Iger.

Maybe they will change it to rollin' the bones in a side alley in New Orleans. Or, they will change it to Trans children reading spot.
