Inside Out 2
Inside Out came out in 2015 and follows Riley, a girl whose emotions get the best of her when she moves. They must all learn how to navigate her new way of life.
Inside Out 2 debuts in theaters today, June 14, 2024, and follows Riley and her new emotions as they try to suppress the old ones.
The film has already broken records ahead of its release! After the first teaser trailer was released, it broke a record with 157 million views, becoming the most-watched animated trailer in Disney’s history.
Big News
Inside Out 2 just got the biggest box office preview in 2024 during Thursday night previews! Domestically, the film grossed $13 million and $22.3 million internationally.
Inside Out 2 got the biggest preview night of 2024!
This sequel is expected to gross between $80 million and $90 million this weekend alone! If the movie debuts on the higher end it will have the biggest opening of the year! Currently, the top spot is held by “Dune: Part Two” ($82.5 million) and “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” ($80 million), which are both Warner Bros. films.
Inside Out 2 domestic preview earnings surpassed “Toy Story 4”, “The Little Mermaid”, and “Minions: The Rise of Gru.” However, it does fall short of animated superhero sequels like “Incredibles 2″ and “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” both grossing over $17 million.
The film did great in Mexico, too. On opening day, it scored the third-highest in previews ($5.7 million) for animated films in the country’s history. In Argentina, it was the second-highest animated opening day, only coming in behind “Toy Story 4.”
Big Hopes
The first film (Inside Out), opened with $90.5 million domestically with only $3.7 million in previews. The film continued to gross even more! Inside Out grossed $356 million in North America and $858.8 million globally!
Inside Out 2 has already done better than some of Pixar’s recent film openings. Elemental was Pixar’s lowest opening. However, it did end up doing well overall. You can read about that HERE.
It is expected that with the $200 million budget, we should see Inside Out 2 do just as well as the first film.
Other recent Pixar films that didn’t get the entrance they were hoping for were Lightyear, Soul, Turning Red, Luca, and Onward.
