More Changes are Coming to Disney World’s Frontierland

Normally we get nervous with refurbishments, but we are happy to see changes coming to Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland. Check out the latest news for these changes.

Once a Ghost Town

What once seemed like a “ghost town” over in Frontierland is now abuzz with activity with the Annual Passholder previews for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This attraction officially opens on June 28th.

The Country Bear Musical Jamboree is set to open next month with a new look and new songs. Disney announced the closure of the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade as well.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is set for a rather lengthy refurbishment starting soon. After a delay of several years, this attraction will finally get some much-needed attention.

New Permit Filed

Now Frontierland will experience even more changes. Disney just filed a permit for the Frontier Trading Post. Guests can “mosey in for Western and Native American wear.”

The Frontier Trading Post offers a great variety of Disney pins and is a great location for pin trading. The new permit is assigned to MLC Theming Inc.

MLC Theming Inc. often helps with exterior cosmetic work such as with scene painting and rockwork design.

With an expiration date of June 30, 2025, we are unsure when work will begin. Disney has not yet announced this refurbishment.

Many times, Disney will try to complete refurbishments while keeping attractions and stores open in the process. For all of our pin-trading pals, we hope that is the case for this refurbishment.

Goodbye Frontierland ! Rethemed to some trendy theme of the day, and the nod to frontier America will be forgotten. An urban decay theme would be trendy, or a nod to a California, that no longer exhists.

Keep up the good work ! Shootin arcade was too close to the mark to keep open, it was the perfect metaphor to the way Disney has been run in the last 10 years. Successfully " SHOOTING THEMSELVES IN THE FOOT "

Sad that Disney is removing the Shooting Gallery. They already removed all the visual references to Davy Crockett at Ft. WILDERNESS. Bob Iger seems determined to destroy all references to nostalgia at WDW and Disneyland for people my age. I think he will be happy if people like me just give up our AP's, sell our DVC contracts and stop going altogether. We certainly don't go to see the new stuff.
