One Disney Attraction Will Use a Virtual Queue When it Reopens

This old attraction is currently closed for refurbishment. And, when it reopens it will need to use a virtual queue. No, we aren’t talking about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! See what’s in store for this ride.

Virtual Queues

One new(ish) option for riding attractions is a virtual queue. Disney began implementing them shortly after Rise of the Resistance opened. They are a way for Disney to control the standby line for new attractions, merchandise releases, and more.

At Disney World, virtual queues are currently in place for TRON and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. When Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens on June 28, it will also use a virtual queue.

Over at Disneyland, the one and only virtual queue is for World of Color – ONE at Disney California Adventure. However, one ride will need to use one when it reopens.

Haunted Mansion

Haunted Mansion is a classic dark ride at Disneyland Park. This attraction combines the work of some of the best Disney Imagineers in the company’s history to create illusions and tricks that bring guests back again and again.

 Some of the attraction’s best tricks, like those in the ballroom scene, rely upon fairly old “technology” to create memorable illusions that still entertain guests every day!

A large expansion is currently underway for Haunted Mansion. This will include a larger outdoor queue, gardens, and a Madame Leota retail shop. Check out the concept art and more information for this expansion HERE.

Reopening Changes

While we do not have a reopening date set, it will be part of the start of the fall season on August 23. Haunted Mansion Holiday features a Nightmare Before Christmas overlay.

When it does reopen, Haunted Mansion will utilize a virtual queue as work continues on the attraction and surrounding areas.

This will help manage the line throughout the day so it doesn’t become too crowded. We will keep you posted on when this ride sets an official reopening date!
