Peter Pan’s flight is a classic dark ride at the Magic Kingdom. It is incredibly popular and considered a must-do for most Guests entering the park. However, this upcoming refurbishment will definitely mess with your plans to ride it.
Peter Pan’s Flight
Peter Pan’s Flight is located in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom. It is an almost opening day attraction – it opened on October 3, 1971 which is just 2 days after the park opened.
Hop in your own pirate ship and set sail through scenes of Peter Pan. Start in the nursery, soar over London, watch Peter save Wendy, and so much more.
This ride is incredibly popular, and wait times are consistently over 60 minutes long. We recommend rope dropping it or selecting it as one of your first few Lightning Lanes!
Upcoming Refurbishment
Just last month, Disney filed a permit for Peter Pan’s Flight. While details surrounding the dates and work were unknown at the time, we knew it was coming.
Now, the Disney World website has been officially updated to reflect the dates of the refurbishment. Peter Pan’s Flight will be closed from July 8 to August 20, 2024. It will reopen on August 21.
Hopefully there will be no delays or issues with this refurbishment, so it can reopen on time!
What does this mean for you?
This news can certainly put a damper on your plans if you are visiting during the above dates. It will make rope dropping a bit more chaotic as it seems about 75% of the crowd goes to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and the other 25% goes to Peter Pan’s Flight.
Rumors have swirled for years that Disney would eliminate some problematic/controversial scenes from the year.
At this time there is no mention of Disney removing any set elements. This could be a simple case of the ride needing some down time to work on mechanical/technical issues or a refresher. However, the permit did mention installing new set elements, so we are expecting some changes.
