D23 is winding down, but not without a look at the models for Disney’s newly announced attractions! Here is a look at the models on display for everyone who did not get to go to the event to see for themselves including Encanto, Indiana Jones, Monsters Inc., Avatar, and Lion King!
HUGE Announcements at D23
Each year at D23, Disney treats fans to a look at what is coming in Disney Parks. In recent memory, fans have felt a little burned by hearing about Blue Sky concepts that never make it out of a sketchbook.
However, this year, Disney said that the projects announced are all in development. And, at least 4 of the projects are far enough along to have 3D models displaying tiny details depicting what the attractions could eventually become on a larger scale.
It is always possible for projects to be canceled and plans to change. However, a model is a pretty big investment in a project’s development. Here is a look at everything on display so you can see what is in store!
Tropical Americas in Animal Kingdom
Disney has confirmed that a Tropical Americas America called Pueblo Esperanza will be replacing Dinoland U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. And 3 attractions have been announced for the area.
You can expect to see an Indiana Jones attraction, an Encanto Attraction, and a brand-new carousel featuring Disney animals like Kevin from Up. You can read more about the announcement HERE.
The model of the new land displays everything from the attraction facades to the show buildings nestled in the new themed land. At the center, you will see the fountain that will be at the center of the area. The model even includes the special lighting effects planned for the final product.
There was also a detailed model available for the Encanto-themed attraction. Casita includes so many details. You can even find the magical candle.
Inside the Casita, guests will embark on a ride-through adventure that begins on the day that Antonio has just received his special gift! His room transforms into a rainforest, and the adventure shifts gears!
Monsters Inc.
Next up is the new Monsters Inc. rollercoaster planned for Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. It will be in a new Monsters Inc.-themed area! It will be the first suspended roller coaster in any Disney Park!
Monsters Inc. is coming to Hollywood Studios!
The concept for the ride centers on the door vault from the film. The coaster sens riders whoshing through the factory! You can read more about it here.
Avatar
On the West Coast, Disney California Adventure is getting a brand new Avatar-themed land. The display at D23 showcased a “working desk display” with the models for the entire land.
This new land will delve into the smash hit Avatar sequel Avatar: The Way of Water. You can see more details including the concept art for an attraction planned for the land HERE.
The Pride Lands
The next model takes us across the sea to Disney Adventure World in Disneyland Paris. A new Pride Lands-themed area is coming to the park in celebration of The Lion King.
Within the area, Guests will be able to splash right into the Lion King film on a new water ride! You can see more details right HERE.
