Last Saturday, Disney announced that two Cars-themed attractions will reimagine Frontierland at Magic Kingdom. This is big news for Disney fans, but it will come at a cost.

After the final confetti was cleaned up from the D23 event where huge Disney Park news was announced, Disney shared that both the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island will close for this expansion.

While a closing date is not announced, many Disney guests hope to enjoy these nostalgic attractions during their next trip. That may be a bit difficult with this new unexpected closure.

Disney Parks reserves the right to close attractions and entertainment at any time. We were surprised to find that the Liberty Square Riverboat will have an unexpected closure.

On Tuesday, August 20th the Liberty Square Riverboat offers no operating times for the entire day. This unexpected closure will continue through Thursday, August 22nd.

Operating hours return for the Liberty Square Riverboat on Friday, August 23rd from 11:00 am through 6:00 pm.

Be Prepared

It is always a good idea to double-check operating hours on the My Disney Experience app during your visit. Be sure to update your touring plans if you will be visiting during these dates.

While we do not know the exact reason for this closure, we are thankful that this will only affect a few days.
