It is the End of One Popular Star Wars Series

By now, Disney’s streaming service needs no formal introduction. Disney+ is already in millions of households across America and the world over. The service has brought popular new and original content to life, and it houses countless Disney-owned shows and movies.

However, waves of cancelations and vanishing content have also brought frustration for subscribers. It all started about a year ago when a huge list of content vanished. Other popular shows also came to an end including High School Musical the Musical: The Series, National TreasureThe Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse, and Muppets Mayhem!

Many subscribers question why they are paying less for more. And now, another show has joined the list of cuts; this one is gone after just one season.

Another Cancelation

This time, the cancelations have hit the Star Wars franchise. Since its inception, Disney+ has introduced fans to hits like The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and Andor. However, now the offerings are shrinking.

Though it has only been out for just one season, Disney+ is reportedly canceling The Acolyte. The series got off to such a strong start, pulling 4.8 million views in its first day on the platform. And, it more than doubled that with 11.1 million views in its second week.

However, it did not sustain enough momentum for Disney to consider it a success. Now the mystery-thriller will come to an abrupt ending with no second season in sight.

What Happened?

While Disney has made no official statement as to what drove the choice not to invest further in the Acolyte, there is perhaps some data to back the decision. While the show got off to a strong start, subsequent episodes dwindled in viewership as it seemingly declined in popularity.

Fans became relatively divided over the show, and many lost interest in it. In fact, the finale drew what might be the lowest number of views for a Star Wars season finale to date.

I am a giant Star Wars fan. I literally watched the original Star Wars in a movie theater during the second week it opened in the 70s. I have watched every single Star Wars release ever since.

This pains me, as it is the FIRST Star Wars series to have ever been "canceled."|

But this is upper management's fault. This was probably the most "woke" series I have ever seen, even outside of Star Wars. It makes me sad.

Disney chose to promote its cultural divisiveness through the Star Wars spin off series. Ratings plummeted due to not following the star wars cannons. Not one writer was aware of anything star wars. Only went after agenda.

@IDS, Exactly. All they care about now is political crap, DEI & agenda. Leave all this crap out of shows and just focus on telling a good story with good character progression. You know, like they used to do.
