Over the years, quite a few less-than-desirable headlines have come from guests behaving badly at EPCOT. Now EPCOT is making a big step to be more family-friendly.
Food and Wine Festival
Today is the opening day for EPCOT’s International Food and Wine Festival. Although the festival starts a bit later this year, guests are ready to enjoy the rich, culinary festival.
From delicious food at the Global Marketplaces to the Eat to the Beat concerts, there is so much for guests to enjoy. Unfortunately, there is not as much for the younger guests for the Food and Wine Festival.
Guests of all ages can pay to enjoy the “Remy’s Hide and Squeak” scavenger hunt for $9.99, but this festival seems to be lacking for the younger guests. Now EPCOT made a big step in the right direction to bring the fun of EPCOT to all guests.
New Guidemap
Today, new “Fun for Families with Kids” guide maps are available at EPCOT. Of course, these are available for guests of all ages, but the map highlights special attractions that younger guests may enjoy.
The front of the map showcases Scrooge McDuck and Dewey featured for the DuckTales World Showcase Adventure. There is also a convenient QR code on the back of the guide map to get started on your first adventure.
Inside the guide map points of interest are separated into interactive experiences. These include play zones at the exit of attractions such as Spaceship Earth, Mission Space, and Journey Into Imagination. The Journey of Water and the fun experiences at The Seas with Nemo and Friends are also featured as interactive experiences.
Featured Attractions
Kidcot Fun Stops are located all throughout the World Showcase and are designated with a globe icon. Attractions that younger guests may enjoy are noted with a Mickey Mouse head icon.
“Fun for Families with Kids” guide maps are now available at EPCOT.
All characters greeting guests at EPCOT are featured on this map including where they are located. Finally, shows are marked with a blue star, including “¡Celebración Encanto!”, Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival, and Turtle Talk with Crush.
When my (Donna) kids were younger, they were less engaged at EPCOT than at the other Walt Disney World Parks. This guide map is a great way for younger guests to enjoy EPCOT just as much as adults.
What do you think of this new guide map? Do you think EPCOT should have more for the younger guests to enjoy? Share your thoughts with us and share this news with your Disney pals.
