Unpopular Change for the Figment Meet and Greet

Unpopular Change for the Figment Meet and Greet

One of the best parts of visiting Disney Parks is meeting your favorite characters. Unfortunately, a popular meet and greet made an unwelcome change and we aren’t happy about it.

Figment is a small purple dragon that is a figment of everyone’s imagination. On March 5, 1983, the brand new attraction, “Journey Into the Imagination” opened at FutureWorld in Epcot. It introduced and featured both Figment and the Dreamfinder.

There is no doubt that Figment is still quite popular with Disney adults as his cult-like following hasn’t slowed down. Last fall, Figment began greeting guests at EPCOT.

Based on wait times, it appears that meeting Figment garners higher wait times than the attraction “Journey Into Imagination.”

Guests can meet Figment inside Image Works at the exit of “Journey Into Imagination”. This is a fun meet and greet that allows guests to meet Figment and you receive an autographed card from Figment.

Since Figment first started greeting guests again in September 2023, Disney PhotoPass photographers were ready to capture all of the memories with this unique meet and greet.

Unfortunately, today we noticed that a PhotoPass photographer was not present. At first, we hoped this may just be for today, but a Cast Member indicated that PhotoPass photographers will be missing for a while.

What you need to know

This is disappointing as PhotoPass photographers get the best interactions from when you first meet the character until the very last hug. At this time, Cast Members are available to take pictures on your phone or camera.

Disney did not share a reason for this. We are hopeful that they may return at some point.
