Heads up if you are in the Central Florida area today: there is a Tornado Watch that has just been issued for the surrounding area around Disney World.
Hurricane Helene
Hurricane Helene is edging its way closer to Florida, and on top of possible flooding and strong wind, the National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Central Florida.
As of this morning, September 26, Hurricane Helene is about 400 miles southwest of Leesburg, Florida with 90 mph winds.
While Disney World and surrounding areas will be hit with tropical storm conditions, including 60-65 mph winds and 1-3 inches of rain. And, also a tornado…

We will continue to monitor the weather conditions and update you with any operational changes. Hopefully, the worst of the weather is limited to today only.
As a reminder, a Tornado Watch is that conditions are favorable for a tornado to develop. A Tornado Warning means a tornado has been spotted or seen on radar. Orange and Osceola Counties are under a Tornado Watch.
How to Prepare
For travelers headed to Disney World during this time of year, it is important to be prepared and stay aware of weather conditions. This includes packing extra items like battery chargers, medications, and baby supplies.
It may also be wise to turn on all weather alerts and keep a close eye on severe weather patterns right before and during your vacation.
