A New DinoLand U.S.A Experience Added in the Disney App

Disney has very publically announced that DinoLand U.S.A. is heading for a retheme. So it is interesting that a brand new DinoLand U.S.A. experience has popped up.

Disney confirmed that DinoLand U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World will close. The 11-acre area currently features dino-themed fun.

At least for the coming weeks, guests can enjoy a spinner ride called Triceratops Spin and a thrilling dark ride called DINOSAUR. Guests can also enjoy playing at the Bone Yard, a huge playground themed to a dinosaur dig site.

But, soon all of it will be replaced. Disney plans to replace DinoLand U.S.A. with a land themed to the Tropical Americas. There are plans for an Encanto-themed attraction, a new Indiana Jones ride, and a carousel featuring your favorite Disney animals. You can read about all of it HERE.

However, something new has arrived in DinoLand U.S.A. If you look at the My Disney Experience app, you will find a newly added experience.

Now, guests can find “Songs You’ll Dig” with a Dino Institute Intern on the app. You can rock out as a guitar-playing paleontologist improvises some dino-tastic songs.

You will find this experience over at Restaurantausarus Lounge. It is listed under entertainment in the app. Currently, there are no particular showtimes listed. Guests have mentioned seeing him perform from time to time recently, but he has not been noted in the app until now.

Why Now?

With so many entertainment cuts, it is interesting to see Disney bring in entertainment, especially in an area of the park that is headed for extinction. Why is Disney drawing attention to the land now?

Perhaps, Disney is in some small way preparing for spikes in crowds for October. It has become a popular month to travel. Added entertainment can break up the day for those who are using Disney MultiPass and find themselves with long waits between attractions.

Or, perhaps restaurant entertainment might spread out the crowds during peak mealtimes. Surely Restaurantausarus is less popular than quick service options like Satu’li Canteen or Flame Tree Barbecue.

Whatever the reason, we are always happy to see increased entertainment offerings highlighted at Walt Disney World. It’s the little things that make the magic.
