Disney’s Bay Lake Tower Refurbishment Is Now Extended

Guests love the ease and convenience of staying along the Walt Disney Monorail Resort loop. However, you may need to rethink your travel plans due to this extended refurbishment.

Bay Lake Tower is the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It was built in 2009 and is a favorite among fans because of its proximity to the Magic Kingdom.

Disney completed a really fun renovation of the cash rooms at the Contemporary Resort. The Incredibles theme is appropriate and exciting for this resort.

Unfortunately, Bay Lake Tower did not receive a new look like the Contemporary. A much-needed refurbishment began last month, September 2024, and will continue on guest rooms through September 2025.

With an end date set for the room refurbishment in September 2025, Disney now announces a new refurbishment project for Bay Lake Tower.

Starting January 26, 2026, the Bay Cove Pool will close. This extended closure for maintenance will continue through May 2026.

The Bay Cove Pool is the main pool for this resort featuring a fun, 148-foot waterslide, a zero-depth entry, a whirlpool, a water play area, and the Cove Bar poolside bar. Like many Disney pools, the Bay Cove Pool offers fun family activities and games throughout the day.

This closure may disappoint guests booking Spring Break trips in 2026. During this closure, Bay Lake Tower guests are welcome to use the feature pool at the Contemporary Resort.

Although this closure and refurbishment may not be welcome news, we are thankful that Disney is giving advanced notice to guests making plans for 2026.
