Hurricane Milton is arriving, and Disney World is closing various locations for the safety of Guests and Cast Members. Here is everything that’s closed and what remains open.
Hurricane Milton
Hurricane Milton turned into a Category 5 hurricane on Monday, October 7 and is gaining intensity as it hits the Gulf Coast of Florida and makes its way to the Atlantic Coast.
The most likely path suggests Milton could make landfall Wednesday. It would start in the Tampa Bay Area and work its way across the state to the Atlantic coast.
Disney has been making adjustments to its cancellation policy as well as resort and dining availability. You can read more about that in this post.
What’s Closed
As mentioned yesterday, Fort Wilderness, Copper Creek cabins, and Saratoga Springs treehouses are closing on Wednesday morning. You can read about that here. New info: these will likely remain closed until Sunday, October 13.
On October 9, the four theme parks and Disney Springs will be closed in phases beginning at 1:00 pm. Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom will close at 1:00 pm, and Epcot, Magic Kingdom, and Disney Springs will close at 2:00 pm.
Typhoon Lagoon and mini golf will be closed on Wednesday, October 9 all day.
At this time, Disney also shares it is likely the parks will remain closed on Thursday, October 10. Disney will consider reopening Disney Springs Thursday late afternoon with limited offerings. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is closed for October 10. Event tickets will be refunded.
As far as transportation, that will stop operating on October 9 after everything is closed. Limited Minnie Vans Mears taxi service will still be available.
What’s Still Open
The resorts are still open, and they are a great safe place for Guests and Florida residents who are evacuating. Cast Members will have extra activities, and characters will probably be spending extra time at the resorts also.
To-go meals with easy items like sandwiches and fruit will likely be available too.
There will be very limited food options at these resorts. We suggest getting what you can before the storm arrives, and take advantage of the to-go meals that Disney offers.
It’s also a wise idea to pack extra items like battery chargers, medications, and baby supplies. It may also be smart to turn on all weather alerts and keep a close eye on severe weather patterns right before and during your vacation.
Cancellation Policies
Disney will not enforce cancellation policies for dining and other experiences until further notice. Pre-paid experience will be automatically refunded.
As for the resort cancellation policy, the fee is waived for check-in dates of Tuesday, October 8 to Monday, October 14.
