The Disney Wish is a relatively new ship in Disney’s fleet. She made her maiden voyage in 2022 and has proven to be a very popular ship indeed!

The ship sets sail exclusively out of Port Canaveral. Currently, it only offers 3 or 4-night sailings to the Bahamas.

One of the things that makes the ship so popular is the beautiful attention to detail. And, those details extend to the staterooms!

If you are planning to book a cruise, you might be curious about the staterooms. After all, you will spend a good deal of time getting ready and sleeping in these spaces, and you may even wish to utilize them for a bit of relaxation as well.

The Disney Wish has multiple types of staterooms to choose from:

  • Standard Inside Stateroom: these are the smallest rooms at 189 sq ft; they have no windows and sleep up to 4
  • Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom: These 218 sq ft. rooms have a porthole window and sleep up to 4
  • Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom: These slightly larger 237 sq ft. rooms have a pothole window and sleep up to 5
  • Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah: These 243 sq ft. rooms sleep up to 4 and include a verandah
  • Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah: These 284 sq. ft. rooms sleep up to 5 and include a verandah

When it comes to aesthetics, the staterooms on the Disney Wish are easily the most beautiful to date. The staterooms in the Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah category are certainly no exception.

The staterooms are decorated with scenes and paintings featuring different Disney princess movies. The theme depends on the deck you select. If you are looking for a specific princess, select your deck strategically:

  • Deck 6: Cinderella and Frozen
  • Deck 7: Cinderella and Frozen
  • Deck 8: Sleeping Beauty and Princess & The Frog
  • Deck 9: Sleeping Beauty and Princess & The Frog
  • Deck 10: Moana and Little Mermaid

Our particular stateroom had the Little Mermaid decor. It was perfect for an adventure at sea!

However, they are also well-designed in terms of functionality. They make a great space for a family of four to enjoy.

What’s Inside

Inside, you will find several sleeping spaces. These include a queen bed, a single convertible sofa, and an upper-berth single pull-down bed.

The queen bed is elevated and suitcases fit nicely beneath it. It has a custom premium plush Euro-top mattress and Frette® 300-thread-count, 100% cotton linens.

The couch becomes a bead, and a pull-down bed that turns the couch into a bunkbed is utilized if you are sleeping 4 guests. Our host tucked ours away daily and set it up again with the nightly turn-down service.

The children, unsurprisingly, loved this little “secret bed in the ceiling.” They especially loved that it revealed a glowing message from the Fairy Godmother!

Inside, the room also has a TV, desk, and sitting area with a couch. You will also find cabinets in the living area, one of which contains the fridge.

Split Bathrooms

The bathroom in MOST of these deluxe staterooms on the Wish is actually a “split bath.” It is a full bathroom divided into two distinct areas.

One of the bathrooms has a vanity, sink, and shower/tub with a glass door. The other is a half bathroom with a vanity, sink, and toilet.

We were not entirely surprised at just how much we loved having the split bath. It is so convenient to have the 2 separate spaces.

I honestly think that if I ever sail on a ship that does not offer a split bath, I will miss it. You will want to be sure the stateroom you wish to book has this feature as a few of them do not.

The Verandah

Everyone wonders if having a verandah is worth it, and for us it was absolutely and completely worth it. We used it every day.

Everyone in my party spent time relaxing and enjoying the views. In fact, my little boy who typically loves action and adventure said one of his favorite parts of the trip was just sitting peacefully on the verandah.

Most verandah rooms include patio furniture and deck lighting with plexiglass railings and dividers and childproof locks for the sliding door. However, the category 7A verandahs have partial views. So keep that in mind when selecting a stateroom. This will be noted on the stateroom when you go to reserve.

And, if you are traveling with a larger party, you should know that on the Wish, many adjoining rooms have connecting verandahs! Your stateroom host can turn them into one larger verandah if you like.

Of course, if you do skip the verandah, there are plenty of quiet places with great views onboard the Wish. It is entirely possible to have a similar sort of experience without the extra expense. I found a nice peaceful place to enjoy a morning cup of tea, for example.

Other Amenities

The room has plenty of other amenities as well. First, there is a heavy privacy curtain to split the room into two distinct spaces.

Other conveniences include USB and USB-C ports. Plus, there is a full-length mirror, mini in-room safe, hair dryer, signature spa, bath and shower products, and phone with voicemail messaging.

Climate Control

The room also has individual climate control. However, it is important to know that to use the lights and climate control, you must insert a card into a slot in your room. Your Key to the World Card will work. But, when you take it with you, the lights and climate control go out.

Pirate Tip: If you are particular about temperature, and would like to keep the temperature consistent so you come back to a comfortable setting, you must leave a card inserted. You can use any old plastic card to accomplish this. It does not have to be your Key to the World card.

Location

Our particular room was 10455. It’s a good one. It was midship on Deck 10. Being on Deck 10 made it a quick walk up the stairs to the pool deck and Marceline Market. But, honestly if the elevators were crowded, and if we wanted to walk to lower decks, it wasn’t too much of an undertaking either.

Our room was also relatively close to 2 different sets of elevators. This was also convenient. We did not notice any excessive noise.

I have heard it said lower decks toward the middle of the ship minimize the ship movements. We could feel movement both in the room and all over the ship. However, we were unbothered by this after getting used to it on the first day. I do not know that a different stateroom location would have had any impact for our particular party.

We also were on the starboard side. This gave us nice views of Castaway Cay. However, considering port vs starboard is not something I would spend too much time considering on future bookings.

Lastly, since we were near a bumpout, we did have a slightly larger balcony. However, I honestly do not think I would have missed it had we gone with a standard balcony. It is a nice little bonus since the price is the same for rooms in the the same category, but it is not something to stress over.

Overall

Overall, we loved our stateroom aboard the DIsney Wish. We are forever spoiled. While we do want to explore other ships with different itineraries, I do worry that the staterooms on other ships won’t quite live up to the beautiful comfortable rooms on the Wish.

If you would like to compare the stateroom on the Wish to other Disney cruise ships, we have you covered.
