Disney just extended an already lengthy refurbishment at Port Orleans French Quarter. This will now affect guests well into 2025. Find out what dates are affected so you can make alternate plans now.
Refurbishments
While Guests prepare for upcoming Disney vacations, much time is devoted to selecting the perfect Resort and dining locations for their trip. What Guests may not always consider are current refurbishments scheduled for their Disney Resort.
Although unwelcome, these refurbishments are needed. Typically, Disney provides advanced warnings for work so guests may choose a different resort.
Earlier this year, Disney announced a rather lengthy refurbishment scheduled for Port Orleans: French Quarter. This included a large makeover of resort rooms after a lengthy refurbishment of the Doubloon Lagoon Pool earlier this year.
Refurbishment Extended
Disney began work on the French Quarter rooms this past May. Large sections of rooms were unavailable for guests as refurbishment work was completed in select buildings.
The new rooms are a great update, but unfortunately, it appears that this lengthy refurbishment is now extended even longer. Originally refurbishment was set to end in November 2024.
Disney just updated the website to show the new expected completion date to be spring 2025. This could be up to half a year longer for this refurbishment.
Should You Change Resorts?
Disney does try to keep work times and noise levels in consideration, and much work is completed while guests are busy throughout the day. However, this may still affect the overall ambiance of your resort stay.
Port Orleans French Quarter will remain in refurbishment mode until spring 2025.
Guests staying at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside can enjoy many of the same amenities offered at Port Orleans French Quarter but without the dreaded refurbishment. If you want to enjoy the overall experience of Port Orleans, you may consider switching to Riverside to avoid the refurbishment.
