Nighttime entertainment is a “must-do” for many Disney fans. Unfortunately, the fan-favorite Fantasmic! will have reduced showtimes for the foreseeable future.
Fantasmic!
The nighttime show Fantasmic! is a story where Mickey is transported into a dream. He dances along with music, lighting effects, and pyrotechnics. Various characters and scenes from popular Disney movies are part of the sequence as well.
Fantasmic! first opened in Disneyland in 1992 when Disney Imagineers were offered the challenge to create a show featuring both water and fireworks. They struck success with the action-packed storyline of Fantasmic!
MGM Studios, now Disney’s Hollywood Studios, debuted Fantasmic in 1998. Recently, this show received a few much-needed changes.
Reduced Showtimes
Guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios can enjoy one or sometimes two showings of Fantasmic! each evening. Unfortunately, this is not currently the case at Disneyland.
Earlier this summer, Disneyland announced many cutbacks in entertainment at both Disneyland and California Adventure. Now even more cutbacks are coming and this time it is affecting Mickey Mouse.
Currently, Fantasmic! is only offered on the weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) at Disneyland. With holiday crowds, this is an odd time to reduce nighttime entertainment.
Additional Showtimes
The week of Thanksgiving will see a bit of extra love for Fantasmic!. There is Fantasmic! Dining Package availability every night starting Sunday, November 24th through Sunday, December 1, 2024.
Fantasmic! will be offered only on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with the exception of the week of Thanksgiving.
These nights will offer two Fantasmic! showtimes for guests. Unfortunately, the remaining calendar of December leading up to the week before Christmas still only offers showtimes on the weekends only.
