Walt Disney World just closed a Star Wars store for a brand new experience, and we have a pretty good idea of what will be moving into this space. What do you think of this change?
Star Wars Experiences
Walt Disney World boasted big plans for Star Wars fans. Many of these great plans have shuttered over the years. One of the most notable closures was the Galactic Starcruiser. Completely closing in September 2023, this location remains empty in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge.
Other long-forgotten Star Wars experiences include the Jedi Training Program. This was such a fun immersive experience for young Jedis to battle against their formidable foes.
Further forgotten Star Wars experiences include runDisney Star Wars race weekend and special Star Wars Weekends that was once an annual event before the opening of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge.
New Closure
The most recent Star Wars closure affects the Star Wars Trading Post at Disney Springs. This store closed its doors today, October 24. This store offered many great items also offered at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge.
Guests hoping to bring home Star Wars treasures are directed to visit “Once Upon a Toy” for many of the same items once offered in this location.
Disney Springs continues to offer Star Wars Galactic Outpost as well on the West Side of Disney Springs. The webpage for Star Wars Trading Post shows no operating hours for the coming weeks.
New Experience?
This leads us to wonder what may move into this now empty location. The clue may be where the Star Wars Trading Post merchandise was moved to, “Once Upon a Toy”.
Star Wars Trading post closed today unexpectedly at Disney Springs.
Guests could meet Santa for several years at “Once Upon a Toy”. Now with the new influx of Star Wars merchandise, this may be a bit snug. Rumors around the hot cocoa cart indicate that the Star Wars Trading Post may be the new workshop for Santa Claus and his elves this holiday season.
What do you think of this closure? Do you think that the store may reopen after the holiday season? Share your thoughts with us and share this news with your Disney pals.
