When traveling to Disney World there are lots of options on where to stay. Recently, I stayed off Disney property, and the savings were well worth being outside the “Disney bubble.” Come along for a room tour of this One Bedroom Suite at Homewood Suites by Hilton Orlando at Flamingo Crossing.
Staying off Disney Property
It is not surprising that staying on Disney property can be expensive. If you have ever looked at staying on property then you probably have had some sticker shock. You will pay a premium for location, room size, and amenities.
You can get a larger room for a smaller price tag when staying off Disney property!
You will find that you can get a much larger room for a smaller price when you stay off Disney property. Be sure to read HERE for five things you should consider before you stay offsite for your Disney World vacation.
Homewood Suites at Flamingo Crossing
Homewood Suites by Hilton Orlando at Flamingo Crossing Town Center is located just off SR-429. This hotel is just 10 minutes away from Disney’s west entrance and less than 30 minutes from Orlando International Airport!
With this prime location, you are just minutes away from restaurants, shops, golf courses, and more! From this hotel, I was even able to see Magic Kingdom fireworks in the distance! Yes, it is in the distance, but you could see them.
Pirate Tip: If you don’t have a room overlooking the pool, head to a high floor near the elevators for a view of Magic Kingdom fireworks.
Room options include 1 King Bed Studio Suite, 2 Queen Beds 1 Bedroom, and 1 King Bed 1 Bedroom Suite. We stayed in the 1 King Bed Studio Suite. All of these rooms sleep four except the 2 Queen Beds 1 Bedroom which sleeps six.
Check out our complete resort guide to Homewood Suites at Flamingo Crossing HERE. If the room size and price, and our guide weren’t enough of a reason to stay, they also offer breakfast included with your stay. One of the highlights of this breakfast is that they serve Mickey waffles!
One Bedroom with 2 Queen Beds
As my (Heather’s) travel party for a recent trip was five people, we opted for the 2 Queen Beds 1 Bedroom Suite at Homewood Suites. It can be challenging to find an affordable room for larger parties. Most affordable rooms accommodate four, but adding in the fifth person can really elevate the price.
This 2 Queen 1 Bedroom Suite offers sleeping space for six with three separate sleep surfaces. It also has a kitchen and dining area, living room, bathroom, and separate bedroom with two queen beds. Come along for a full tour with pictures of this spacious one bedroom suite at Homewood Suites at Flamingo Crossing.
Entry, Kitchen, and Dining Area
When you first enter the suite, you enter the kitchen and dining area. This area is tiled, which I love. Shoes can easily be left in this entry space, to not track any dirt around the room.
Once inside, you will also find the kitchen and dining area in the tiled space. The dining space features a table with two chairs. I would like to see more eating space for the whole party at one time, but this works well for the space provided.
The kitchen has a full refrigerator. No beverage cooler here. You will have plenty of room to store food items to prepare those home cooked meals.
In the kitchen, there is a cooktop. Unfortunately, there is no oven, but the cooktop is enough to prepare meals for your travel party. Everything you need is provided to help make a meal. There are pots, pans, cooking utensils, plates, bowls, cups, and eating utensils. A dishwasher completes the kitchen to make cleaning up a breeze!
Living Room
The living room has a TV, couch, chair, and automen. A small table can move around if you need an extra table. The couch folds out into another bed.
The TV stand offers drawers to put belongings away. This room felt spacious. We felt we had plenty of room to move about.
Bedroom
The bedroom has two queen size beds and a chair. It also offered a dresser to store items. A desk was in the corner by the window, that offered a great workspace if needed.
There was also a TV on the dresser. A full-length mirror is located here, so you can make sure you are park-ready prior to heading out.
The beds were comfortable and the space was clean. This is a must for any place I stay.
Bathroom
The bathroom offered a toilet, vanity, and shower/tub combination. This was different from the studio room my family had stayed in at this hotel. The studio only had a shower.
The bathroom was spacious with two closed-off areas. One area offered a vanity, the other closed-off section offered the toilet, sink, and shower/tub. The vanity space is where you will find the closet and extra bedding for the pullout couch. We found we had plenty of space to get ready each morning.
Final Thoughts
Staying off Disney property may not be what you had in mind for your Disney vacation, but it can save some serious cash. With prices increasing (annual passes and other food items), those extra dollars saved will add up and go further when staying off Disney property.
Also, breakfast included with your hotel stay is a game changer. Add in the bonus of Mickey waffles and you are winning for sure!
The One Bedroom Suite at Homewood Suites at Flamingo Crossing offers everything a larger Family or travel party would need. The room and hotel were clean, the staff was amazing, the breakfast was delicious, and the price couldn’t be beat. This is the perfect money-saving one-bedroom for your next Disney trip.
