Changes Coming to Moana's Meet and Greet

We love meeting our favorite characters in the Disney Parks. Among one of the favorites for many guests is our way-finding princess, Moana. Be sure to check out the confirmed changes to this meet and greet before your next trip to Walt Disney World.

Moana is beginning to make a bigger presence at Walt Disney World, with the opening of Journey of Water at EPCOT. Walt Disney World guests can meet Moana at both Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Discovery Island and also at EPCOT at the Journey of Water.

Moana’s fame continues to grow. According to a Nielsen report, Moana was the most-streamed movie in 2023. It debuted in 2016 and was released on Disney+ when it launched in 2019.

No doubt, fans of Moana anticipate the new Moana 2 movie to premiere on November 27, 2024. Be sure to check out a trailer for this new film HERE.

Changes Coming

We love the many great characters that Disney brings to their theme parks especially to coincide with new Disney films. For example, last year EPCOT guests could meet Asha from the animated film “Wish” before the film even premiered.

Now Disney is working a new bit of magic for Moana to prepare for the new Moana 2 animated film. Moana will begin greeting guests in a brand-new outfit from Moana 2.

At EPCOT, Disney’s California Adventure, and Disneyland Paris, Moana will wear her new outfit starting November 24, 2024. Moana will greet guests in her new outfit at Hong Kong Disneyland on November 29, 2024.

The new announcement does not mention that this new outfit will debut at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where Moana currently meets. We guess that she will still wear her traditional outfit at this location.

Moana will debut a new outfit from Moana 2 at EPCOT starting November 24, 2024.

This is great news for guests of young wayfinders who may want a picture taken with Moana in matching Polynesian outfits from the first movie.
