Disney has intentionally brought an invasive snake species into the parks. Here are all the details so Guests know what to expect.
Big Changes in Animal Kingdom
It is no secret that there is a lot of change happening at Disney’s Animal Kingdom right now. Dinoland U.S.A. is on its way to a Tropical Americas Remodel. You can read what we know so far about it’s final days right HERE.
And, there are a lot of changes going on with the animal residents as well. Two lions are retiring and a new baby tiger has roared onto the scene.
And now Disney has welcomed something rather reptilian. A new snake exhibit has arrived!
Snakes in Disney World
A Burmese Python has moved into Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World. He is already in his habitat and on display for Guests.
Some Disney fans might find it odd that Disney has decided to add an invasive species to show off in the park. After all, many of these snakes have found their way out of captivity and into the natural world where they have caused a good deal of trouble for Forida’s native animal populations, especially in the Florida Everglades.
And, that is precisely the point of the exhibit. It serves as a way to educate those who are interested in protecting wildlife. The habitat is surrounded with infographics explaining the real impact these giant and invasive snakes are having on the Florida Everglades.
How to Visit the Burmese Python
If you or anyone in your travel party wants to see the new Burmese Python exhibit, here is what you need to do. Simply head to Harambe Station, and hop on the Wildlife Express Train to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. When you arrive, you will find the exhibit in Conservation Station.
While you are there, you can also enjoy a fun Animation Class and bring home your own drawing of a Disney Character. And, be sure to say hi to some of the other animals like a popular Lesser Madagascar Hedgehog Tenrec named Glitter Toaster Strudel!
