Moana 2 is heading to theatres soon! The new film is a follow-up to the 2016 smash hit.
The movie started out as a TV series. However, Disney’s decision-makers decided it would be better for the silver screen!
You can watch Moana 2 in theaters on November 27, 2024. But, first, you might want to know what it will be like.
Details
The Moana sequel takes place 3 years after her first voyage. In this new movie, Moana heads on another adventure to search for people beyond the shores of her home island, Motunui.
Disney confirmed that Dwane Johnson will return as Maui. Auli’i Cravalho will also reprise her role as Moana.
Moana and Maui will explore the far seas of Oceania with new friends. And, now we know a little more about exactly who those new friends are!
New Moana Characters
First up, Moana has a new addition to her family: a little sister! Simea (voiced by Khaleesi Lambert-Tsudam) and Moana have already forged an unbreakable bond. Simea thinks the world of Moana and misses her terribly when she’s gone on her wayfinding journeys.
Next, Moana has an entire crew for her new adventure. The crew members include Loto (voiced by Rose Matafeo), who is an engineer tasked with maintaining the canoe. Kele (voiced by David Fane) is an elder who has joined the mission to grow and maintain the crew’s food. Moni (voiced by Hualālai Chung) is a storyteller. He also happens to be a Maui fanboy.
You will also meet Matangi (voiced by Awhimai Fraser). She is a mysterious figure who travels with flying foxes. Prepare to see her challenge everything Moana thinks she knows about herself.
