A service at one of the Universal Orlando Hotels permanently closed this week. Here are all the details about how it could affect your next visit.
Closures at Universal Orlando
Nobody likes to see anything shutter its doors forever at a beloved theme park. While some closures at Universal Orlando are temporary, others are permanent.
Some temporary closures include Men in Black: Alien Attack at Universal Studios and Dudley Do Right’s Ripsaw Falls at Universal Islands of Adventure. You can check out the dates in the hyperlinked posts.
And, there are also some closures that have no end in sight. Pteranodon Flyers at Universal Islands of Adventure comes to mind. We don’t know if or when the popular attraction will ever be repaired and up and running again.
But, sometimes, there are decidedly permanent closures. For example, Woody Woodpecker‘s KidZone in Universal Studios closed forever to make way for the new DreamWorks Land. And now we know of a permanent closure at a hotel.
Permanent Closure at Portofino Bay
Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando has been in the throes of a lengthy refurbishment. While it did impact the overall Guest experience for some time, the refurbishment is wrapping up! However, one area of the hotel is now closed.
Mandara Spa at Loews Portofino Bat Hotel closed its doors for good on November 30, 2024 at 5:00 PM. Some guests were surprised to find a sign on the door stating as much.
The lavish spa had relaxation lounges, over a dozen private treatment rooms, couples rooms, a hydro-therapy pool, and steam rooms. It also offered services in its full-service hair and nail salon. Its closure could affect those planning to relax, and it could especially impact brides planning weddings at the beautiful resort.
What Should Guests Do?
If you need spa services during your stay and were counting on Madara Spa, you are not totally out of luck. Be sure to consult with the concierge or front desk who can connect you with nearby providers for spa services.
And, if you had gift cards, you are not completely out of luck. The gift cards can be used at other locations or at the Timetospa website. Contact Universal for more details.
While the Mandara Spa is close, Universal will help Guests explore other options.
There is no news on what is replacing the spa just yet. Universal is reportedly exploring other ideas to enhance the Guest experience.
Did you ever use Madara Spa? Does the closure affect your next visit? Be sure to pass the news along to friends and family who are planning a visit so they know what to expect!
