Disney uses virtual queues to manage long lines at its busiest rides. One ride will soon stop using virtual queues altogether. Learn the details and see how this change could affect your next trip to Disney.
Virtual Queue
Many people were curious whether Tiana’s Bayou Adventure would implement the Virtual Queue system as the ride did when the attraction opened at Disney World.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened at Disneyland on November 15, 2024, using a virtual queue.
Disney has indicated that a standby line will be established “after the attraction’s opening.” While this timeline is not definitive, it suggests that the Virtual Queue may not continue after the initial surge of guests has subsided.
It Was a Rainy Opening Night
Fellow writer, Monica, and I rode Disney World’s Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on opening day at Disney World and we were so excited to do the same at Disneyland! It was raining and very cold on opening day. And like Disney World, the ride broke down throughout the day causing a longer wait.
It was so cold that people were reusing other people’s ponchos after they finished riding!
The magic of the bayou shines during Mardi Gras season, hosted by Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen. It continues from where the movie left off: with the kiss. It seemed like the ride moved much faster at Disneyland, most likely due to the single-row ride vehicle.
Ways to Ride
When Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened, guests could ride using a virtual queue, or by choosing it as a Multi-Pass Lightning Lane option. Guests using a multi-pass waited less time than those using the virtual queue.
Disneyland just announced that beginning December 10, 2024, will no longer use a virtual queue.
Starting on December 10, guests can ride using the regular standby ride, Lightning Lane Premier Pass, or Lightning Lane Multi-Pass for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland.
