An All New Bluey Movie is Coming to Theaters

Get excited, Bluey fans! For the first time ever, Disney and BBC are collaborating to bring fans an animated feature film for Bluey! For Real Life!

Even if you have not watched Bluey, you have likely at least heard of it by now. The popular children’s television series is everywhere from store shelves to the Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade, to packaging for snacks!

Not only is Bluey an award-winning animated series, it is also 2024’s number 1 series on streaming. Families can’t get enough of it.

For those unfamiliar with the show, Bluey is an animated series that follows the lives of a family of 4 Australian Blue Heelers. The show’s beauty lies in its simplicity mixed with surprisingly thought-provoking overtones.

Disney Acquires Bluey Movie Rights

Fans have wondered for a while whether Bluey would ever show up on the silver screen. And, now it is becoming a reality!

Recently, Disney acquired the global theatrical rights to create a Bluey film! The film will be created under the Disney Banner.

Even better, fans of the show will be delighted to know that this film will be written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm. While Disney will own the rights, the film is a Ludo Studio production in collaboration with BBC Studios.

Joe Brumm, creator of Bluey, stated: “I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on The Sign in Series 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that. I’ve always thought Bluey deserved a theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together.”

When Can You See the Bluey Movie

The production team has plenty of time to get this one right. The Bluey movie comes to theaters in 2027.

Disney will release the Bluey movie in theaters worldwide, followed by streaming on Disney+. The movie will also air on ABC iView and ABC Kids in Australia after its theatrical release.
