We have bad news for train lovers who have Disney trips planned in the coming months. Disney’s Iconic railroad is closing. Again.
Refurbishments
No one likes refurbishments that interrupt their Disney vacations. This is especially true if you have a once-in-a-lifetime bucket list trip planned.
While there are quite literally hundreds of things to do on a Disney vacation, an attraction closure can still sting! It is especially true if the attraction is a popular e-ticket attraction or a beloved classic.
And now, visitors will be without one of the true classics. Here is what we know.
Disneyland Railroad
The Disneyland Railroad is closing for refurbishment, and the closure date is rapidly approaching. The refurbishment begins on January 13, 2025.
If you are saying to yourself, “Wait a second. Didn’t it JUST reopen?” you aren’t wrong. The attraction already closed in the fall so that crews could replace sections of track.
The railroad has only been open for a few months, and yet it is already time to close again! This time, crews will replace a different section of the track. Of course, this leaves visitors wondering why they didn’t fix it all during the previous closure.
When Will it Reopen
There is at least some good news. We already have a re-opening timeline for this one. Disney intends to have the refurbishment finished before Disneyland celebrates its 70th anniversary on May 16.
The train should be up and running again by May 16.
It would be a shame to celebrate such a big milestone without the train, given its rich history and connections to Walt Disney himself. So, hopefully, the timeline will go as expected.
Does this refurbishment impact your visit to Disneyland? Let us know. And be sure to pass the news along to friends planning a Disney trip so they can manage their expectations.
