There is never a good time for an attraction to close for a refurbishment, but a busy holiday season is definitely not good timing. Unfortunately, this Magic Kingdom refurbishment fails to reopen on time. Find out what we know about this closure to plan your next trip to the parks.
Planned Refurbishment
In previous years, Disney plans much refurbishment during the slower months of January and February. Check out the growing list of refurbishments coming to Walt Disney World this January.
With heavier holiday crowds expected, a refurbishment planned to start on November 18th is less than ideal, especially at the Magic Kingdom.
Typically, Disney provides advanced notice for refurbishments, especially for longer refurbishments. Back in November, a refurbishment quietly appeared on the Walt Disney World website.
Fails to Reopen
The Swiss Family Treehouse closed for refurbishment on Monday, November 18th, and was set to reopen to guests today, Friday, December 20th
Unfortunately, no attraction hours are listed for the Swiss Family Treehouse. This area remains closed off to guests with scrim and scaffolding still in place.
Disney has not announced when this attraction will reopen. Looking at the operating hours, attraction times are listed starting on Monday, December 23, 2024. Fingers crossed that it will reopen with no further delays.
Park Planning Tips
The Swiss Family Treehouse is a huge treehouse that both the young and the young at heart can enjoy. During my experiences, this location is not crowded and allows for time to explore at your own pace.
Swiss Family Treehouse remains closed for refurbishment with a possible opening timeline of Monday, December 23, 2024.
Besides amazing views, the treehouse offers a much-needed break from busier crowds. Be sure to check out other great places to escape the busy crowds of the Magic Kingdom HERE.
