This is not what guests of the Magic Kingdom were hoping to see this morning. Find out which attraction is less than magical for the busy holiday crowds.
Unexpected Refurbishment
Typically, the Disney Parks schedule refurbishment work during somewhat slower crowd times. For example, we named January “Refurbishment Month” at Walt Disney World. Check out the upcoming closures HERE.
Last month, Disney surprised us with a lengthy refurbishment for the Swiss Family Treehouse set to close on Monday, November 18th, and to reopen on Friday, December 20th.
Unfortunately, on December 20th, the attraction remained closed with scrim in place. Attraction hours were to return today, December 23rd.
Partially Reopens
The Swiss Family Treehouse partially reopened to guests. Scrim is still in place around parts of the Swiss Family Treehouse.
Besides simply blocking many of the passageways through this self-guided attraction, this unsightly scrim also blocks the gorgeous view offered throughout this attraction.
The details of this refurbishment were never provided, but appear to be taking longer than expected. It appears that work is still ongoing for this refurbishment as scrim remains.
Tips for Guests Visiting
Today, attraction hours are listed as 9:00 am until 11:00 pm. Looking ahead, operational hours remain for this attraction, although we do not know how long the scrim and closures will remain.
Swiss Family Treehouse is surrounded by scrim and only partially opened to guests.
Walt Disney World reserves the right to change operational hours and close attractions and entertainment without advanced warning. It is wise to use both the My Disney Experience app and the Character Locator for updated wait times and temporary attraction closures.
