Universal Orlando Announces Closing Timeline for Popular Coaster

Yesterday, we shared that Universal had filed new permits to remove a popular ride. They have now shared when this coaster will close!

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is a roller coaster in Universal Studios at Universal Orlando. It allows riders to select a song to listen to as they climb, loop, and plummet over Universal! Last year, the coaster went from offering 30 song choices to just 5!

The ride is probably best known for its terrifying vertical ascent. It presents an intimidating visual as riders approach, and it is every bit as thrilling (or terrifying) as one would imagine to travel STRAIGHT UP (yes straight up, a full 90 degrees!) with your back parallel to the ground.

Rip Ride and Rockit climbs a total of 17 stories. But did you know that this coaster broke records? It was the first coaster in the world to have a non-inverting loop!

On December 23, 2024, Universal filed a permit with the South Florida Water Management District. This permit came along with a telling project description and detailed maps.

The project description says the plan is to “remove existing attraction and replace with proposed attraction.” The project map outlines the area surrounding Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit.

Be sure to read HERE for all the details on this new permit that Universal filed.

At this time, no further details have been shared. However, Universal noted that more details would be available at a later date. If you are wanting to experience this attraction before it closes forever, be sure to visit soon!
