When Disney first announced changes for DinoLand USA, guests were worried about how this may affect the current DinoLand characters. Please be sure to take note of these new changes before your next trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
DinoLand USA
As Walt Disney once said, “We keep moving forward,” and that is very true at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Soon DinoLand USA will become extinct to make way for a new experience.
A brand new land, Tropical Americas, will offer a brand new Indy attraction and a new carousel and an Encanto attraction
To make room for this new land, DinoLand USA will have a phased closure. On January 13, 2025, TriceraTop Spin will be the first ride to close, with its final day of operation being January 12. Fossil Fun and Games and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures will close that day as well.
New Changes
To prepare for this phased closure, Disney is already making changes to DinoLand USA. This week a DVC kiosk is now removed from DinoLand.
Meeting bird-watching Goofy and bone-digging Pluto will now look a bit different as well. Previously these characters took turns greeting guests behind Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures.
Coming very soon, this retail shop and character meeting location will be surrounded by construction walls. Thankfully Goofy and Pluto will still be available to meet, but in a new location.
New Location
Both Goofy and Pluto are now relocated just outside the Restaurantosaurus quick-service location. Guests may remember meeting both Launchpad and Scrooge McDuck at this location a few years ago.
Goofy and Pluto are now greeting guests near Restaurantosaurus in DinoLand.
At this time, this is the only official character change to DinoLand USA. Follow along with Character Locator for the most updated character locations and meeting times.
