At D23 last August, Disney shared that Disney Cruise Line would be adding more ships to their fleet. Find out what new information we have on this expansion.
New Ships
Last summer, Disney shared that they would be adding four more ships to their fleet. This addition would give them a total of 13 vessels once completed in 2031. They currently have six ships operating.
Disney Cruise Line will add four more ships to their fleet between 2027 and 2031.

New Details Revealed
Disney has revealed more information about the four new additions to their fleet. Part of this addition will be one ship that is in the Wish-class which will occur in 2027. Then three ships will follow that will be in a new class all their own.
The new class of ships will be delivered in 2029, 2030, and 2031.
This new class of ships will be coming between 2029-2031. They are smaller than the Wish/Dream classes, but 20% bigger than the Wonder and Magic. The new class will have a capacity of 3,000 passengers.
New Class of Ships
This new class of ships will also run on a variety of fuels, which includes hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and renewable methanol. This will make them the most energy efficient in the cruising industry! Another energy saving feature is these new ships will also be able to turn off their engines when they are in port. When in port, they can use shore power to run the ship’s systems.
The three new ships will be their own class, that will be the most energy efficient.
With this new size of ship, passengers will be able to go to destinations that prefer smaller ships. Disney Cruise Line is doing as Walt would want and to “keep moving forward” with implementing new technology and improving ways for passengers to set sail with Disney Cruise Line.
