AI Now Removed From This Disney Dining Location

Disney tested out a self-checkout powered by artificial intelligence at a Disney dining location. This artificial intelligence test has apparently come to an end.

Earlier this month we shared that Disney was testing out a checkout process that was powered by AI (Artificial Intelligence). During the testing, Guests would go to a self-checkout and place their tray under the scanner. Then the guest would spread the items out on the tray for scanning.

A self-checkout powered by AI testing took place at All Star Sports End Zone Food Court.

Guests then verify that all items have been scanned (or scanned correctly) and complete the transaction. Cast Members were standing by for assistance if needed. You can read more about the testing HERE.

On our most recent visit to All Star Sports, we noticed that the AI self-checkout had been removed. Now, all Guests check out with a Cast Member.

The AI self-checkout registers have been removed from the All Star Sports End Zone Food Court.

When we asked a Cast Member why the AI self-checkout registers had been removed, they replied: “It was a test.”

Because this AI self-checkout was just a test, it is unclear what the future of the AI self-checkout will be. If testing had gone well, Guests can expect to see these AI self-checkout registers appear throughout Disney World Resort.

If the testing did not go as well as Disney had hoped, they may be working through any issues that arose or removing them altogether. Only time will tell if these AI self-checkout registers return to Disney quick service locations.
