A big problem continues to plague Marathon Weekend athletes. Find out what athletes need to do to fix the issue.
Marathon Weekend
Walt Disney World Marathon is underway, and only one race remains! This big race weekend includes four individual races and two challenges. The races range from a 5K all the way to a full marathon!
Athletes are facing cold weather this weekend. Check out how Disney wants athletes to be prepared HERE.
Thinking about participating in a runDisney event next year? The race calendar was just released, and you can see it HERE.
Chip Timing Issues
Yesterday, Athletes shared that they received an email from runDisney stating that the timing chip on their race bib may be inactive. Various emails went out reporting that some timing chips were inactive.
Athletes were informed that some timing chips were inactive!
Athletes were given several options to rectify the problem. You can read HERE for more information on the inactive chips.
Timing Chips Continue
Athletes have reported that they have received an additional email from runDisney. This seems to have impacted Dopey participants. The new update informs athletes that bibs within the 21165-22000 and 28001-28087 ranges may have inactive timing chips. If you ran today and your time was recorded, you have an active chip and no further action is required.
Athlethes with bibs within 21165-22000 and 28001-28087 ranges may have inactive timing chips!
If you do not have an active chip then you have several options for the Marathon tomorrow. The options are:
- If your time is not critical to you, no action is required. This will not impact receiving your medal.
- Wear your 5K/10K bib along with your Half/Full marathon bib. You must have your Half/Full bib visible, but the 5K/10K will have the active chip.
- If you no longer have your 5K/10K bib, visit the tent next to gEAR Bag Truck #1. There you can receive a new timing chip as early as 2 a.m. on Sunday, January 12th.
runDisney is working hard to fix the problem. We hope that athletes are still having a magical race weekend. I also hope that this will not impact athletes receiving their Coast to Coast medals later this year.
