Many of our readers may already be aware of the fires threatening California. Fire has ravaged the Los Angeles area causing incomprehensible destruction.

The fires have devastated areas like Malibu and Pacific Palisades. They have also taken their toll on Altadena. This is a community that has served as home to many Disney Imagineers over the years.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency as the majority of the fires remain uncontained. President Joe Biden also approved a major disaster declaration and the Defense Department is sending resources. Moreover, first responders from neighboring states have rushed in to help.

Universal temporarily closed Universal Studios Hollywood as well as CityWalk. Both have since reopened. And now Disney is responding to the fires.

Bob Iger, CEO of the Walt Disney Company said, “As this tragedy continues to unfold, The Walt Disney Company is committed to supporting our community and our employees as we all work together to recover and rebuild from this unbelievable devastation.”

He went on to say, “Walt Disney came to Los Angeles with little more than his limitless imagination, and it was here that he chose to make his home, pursue his dreams, and create extraordinary storytelling that means so much to so many people around the world. We are proud to provide assistance to this resilient and vibrant community in this moment of need.
