Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s Wicked movie has flown into theatres and captured hearts across the country. The movie, which was adapted from the hit Broadway musical, debuted at number 1 when it hit theatres in November of 2024.

It maintained theatrical momentum long enough to smash box office records. In fact, Wicked smashed records by becoming the highest-grossing Broadway musical adaptation of all time at the domestic box office!

And this film keeps flying high. Wicked hit digital streaming platforms on December 31, 2024, and stole the show once more.

Wicked was sure to be a popular streaming option. And, sure enough, it was popular enough to see another record!

In fact, Wicked delivered the largest first day and initial week of sales for any Universal theatrical title! It earned a whopping $26 million on its first day of digital release for rentals and sales and went on to rake in $70 million in its first week of digital release in the United States and Canada.

For comparison sakes, Universal’s record holder for second highest digital release in its opening week is the The Super Mario Bros. Movie. It earned $44 million during its first week of digital availability.
