runDisney events have a lot of moving parts. There is a team that stays at the back of the pack that you might not know about. Disney shared a glimpse behind the scenes of the Bike Team that helps make these events possible.

Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend has come to an end, and many athletes are celebrating their accomplishments. It was a magical weekend, even with some technical issues that came up.
Rundisney hosts four weekends in Disney World and two weekends at Disneyland. There are also several virtual runDisney events that athletes can participate in.
Thinking about participating in a runDisney event next year? The race calendar was just released, and you can see it HERE.
16 Minute Pace Per Mile
runDisney enforces a 16-minute pace per mile. Because of the time constraints, runDisney recommends training at a 15-minute pace per-mile pace.
You may have heard about the Balloon Ladies, and that you they are to be feared! That is so far from the truth! The Balloon Ladies are volunteers that act as a visual for participants to see the 16-minute-per-mile pace. These ladies want to see everyone cross that finish line!
Be sure to check out our interview with one of the Balloon Ladies HERE.
However, the Balloon Ladies are not the true back of the pack and are not the final 16 minute pace cut-off. The back of the pack is officially held by the runDisney Bike Team.
runDisney Bike Team
The Bike Team is the only official 16-minute pace-per-mile keeper. They ensure that the race is completed on schedule, and that the roads and parks can open as planned. The team is at the race and gearing up for whatever lies ahead hours before any race participant arrives.
Their Goal: “to guide and support runners every step of the way, ensuring everyone finishes strong.”
Even though they have to set the pace, they are not mean and truly want to see you succeed. The Bike Team’s goal is to help athletes accomplish their goals.
This is just one of the roles that help make the marathon or any runDisney race happen. Even the runDisney bike team gets giddy or even teary-eyed riding down Main Street or watching athletes cross the finish line. runDisney races are a one-of-a-kind race experience, and this team will do whatever it takes to help keep you moving to that finish line. They want to see everyone finish and achieve their goals!
