Recently, we shared that Disney was testing a new Rider option at a popular Hollywood Studios attraction. However, this option has since been removed.
Single Rider
Single rider lines are separate lines in select attractions for those traveling solo or those who don’t mind riding the attraction without the rest of their party. Single riders get placed wherever there is a seat available.
Typically, the line is much shorter than the regular standby queue, which means less waiting in line!
Attractions at Disney World that use single rider access include Expedition Everest, Test Track (under refurbishment), Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, Rise of the Resistance, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Occasionally we see Soarin’ offer a Single Rider Line, but that was a complete waste of time.
New Modified Single Rider Option
At the start of the month, a modified Single Rider option at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run was being tested. This new trial allowed groups of two to join the line together and ride in the same cockpit.
There was no guaranteed crew position with this riding option (for example: gunner, pilot, or engineer).
This line was a separate line from the standby and lightning lane options. Guests would join this line in hopes of a shorter wait than traditional standby.
No Longer Offered
It has now been reported that this modified single rider option is no longer available. At this time, there is no clear reason for the option being unavailable. This could be that the offering was only for testing and had a specific end date, or that the testing did not go as well as Disney had hoped.
The modified singer rider option is no longer available for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
We hope that this option returns, as it is a great way to ride with a shorter wait. In the meantime, you can still split your party into single riders, if you wish. We will be on the lookout for any updates to rider options, and notify you of any changes.
