Resort Perks
Staying at one of the Walt Disney World Resorts offers a few perks including Early Theme Park Hours, various modes of free Disney transportation throughout Walt Disney World, and new for 2025 packages, Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel can enjoy admission to one of the water parks on check-in day.
Along with these fun resort perks that can be enjoyed around the Disney Parks, there are also fun amenities and activities at each Disney resort.
The resorts have a nightly campfire with roasting sticks and marshmallows. This is usually accompanied by the movie that plays each evening. There are fun activities and crafts for the young and young at heart.
Changes to Amenities
Many Walt Disney World guests traveling to the “Sunshine State” are surprised at the current forecast. It is quite chilly by Florida standards, and the cooler temperatures have kept Disney’s Blizzard Beach closed for much of the month and altered Disney Resort activities.
Although the Walt Disney World Resort pools are heated, their operational hours are currently altered due to lower temperatures. To accommodate these shorter pool hours, many Walt Disney World Resorts offer temporary amenity changes.
For example at Disney’s Port Orleans guests are notified of new changes due to low temperatures. The Resort pool hours are available only from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Resort guests are invited to enjoy crafts and games inside the Main Lobby throughout the day.
The “Movie Under the Stars” is moved indoors as well due to cooler weather. For example, at Disney’s Port Orleans, the nightly movie is offered indoors at the quick service Sassagoula Floatworks.
Plan Ahead
Although this may not be the weather that many Disney guests were planning for, it is great that the Disney Resorts are offering additional activities indoors. Other Disney Resorts also offer additional indoor amenities.

Disney Resorts offers the “Disney difference” when the weather does not go as planned. We often see this when hurricanes threaten to affect Walt Disney World and even while cooler weather looms at the “Most Magical Place on Earth.”
