One of Disney World’s Original Beasts Just Turned 50

Do you love Disney’s animals? See how this cutie celebrated on her special day!

Did you know that some of the animals who were living in Disney’s Animal Kingdom are still dwelling there today? It’r true! You can still visit with the originals who have been there for over 25 years!

It was a happy birthday for one of Walt Disney World’s beloved opening day animals! Viviana the hippo celebrated her 50th birthday! To celebrate her special golden anniversary on this planet, the Animal Nutrition team crafted a special “birthday cake” filled with some of Viviana’s favorite foods, including refreshing watermelon and cantaloupe.

Born on January 22nd, Viviana has been a cherished member of Disney’s beloved animal family, and she continues to thrive! She enjoys spending her days relaxing in the water and socializing with her hippo friends, Tuma, Tequila, and Ramona.

Where to See The Hippos

Do you want to see a hippo on your next visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom? If so, you are in luck!

In fact, you might just spot an entire bloat of hippos! Viviana, Tuma, Tequila, and Ramona live in their habitat on Kilimanjaro Safaris!

Kilimanjaro Safaris is a popular ride in Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. You will take a nice long jeep ride where you can spot all kinds of animals. The hippos are usually out and about enjoying the water or the surrounding banks. But, you will want to head over early because it does close ahead of the park.

If you want to see even more animals that have been in the news, head to Discovery Island. There you can visit Disney’s popular Cotton Top Tamarins You can also see Otter Grotto where the latest baby otters will soon be ready to meet guests.

Lastly, be sure to keep an eye on Maharajah Jungle Trek. Soon a new baby tiger will make his debut. But for now, you can watch him live on Tiger Tuesdays!
