Disney is delaying one of the planned refurbishments in the Magic Kingdom. It could be good news for you if you have a trip planned.
Refurbishment

Refurbishments resulting in an attraction closure can be disappointing for theme park guests. This is especially true for those who have planned an expensive and potentially once-in-a-lifetime Walt Disney World Vacation.
Fortunately, Disney does have a tendency to publish refurbishment schedules as far as advance as possible (when it is possible). That way guests can manage expectations.
Of course, refurbishment and routine maintenance are important for the operations of a theme park. It ensures everyone stays safe! After all, it is much easier to enjoy yourself and have fun at a theme park when you have faith that everything will run safely.
Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Recently, Disney announced a refurbishment for a classic Magic Kingdom attraction. Anyone who has been on Dumbo the Flying Elephant with small children may have discovered that the children love the playground under the big top in the ride queue more than they love the actual attraction. After all, children love Disney’s play areas.
The playground in the Dumbo ride queue was supposed to close for refurbishment today! However, Disney has moved that refurbishment date and the playground remains open!
Disney posted the announcement on its website. “The indoor children’s playground in the Dumbo the Flying Elephant queue will close for refurbishment on February 24, 2025 and is expected to reopen in Spring 2025. The attraction will remain open and available during this time.”

This is great news for families visiting between now and the busy holiday weekend coming in February. It means kids can enjoy this adorable space to play and burn off energy.
More Construction and Refurbishments

Walt Disney World has a number of refurbishments and new projects happening across the parks. Magic Kingdom is preparing to rip out Tom Sawyer’s Island and Rivers of America. And, Big Thunder Mountain will be down for much longer than we care to think about.
Big projects and refurbishments are happening in all 4 Walt Disney World parks.
Animal Kingdom is in the throws of overhauling Dinoland U.S.A. And, there is so much going on at Hollywood Studios with the Muppets and Rock n Rollercoaster. And, over in EPCOT, Test Track is closed until summer.
Do you or your kids love the Dumbo playground? Where do your kids like to play in Disney World? Let us know, and be sure to pass the news on to family and friends who are planning a trip so they know what to expect.
