You May Want To Rethink Staying at Disney’s Pop Century

We love a value resort where you can enjoy great Disney theming and great Disney Resort perks while saving a little money. Unfortunately, this refurbishment may cause you to rethink your vacation plans. We have the dates and locations that may impact your next Walt Disney World trip.

Refurbishments

Refurbishment sparks dread around Disney Parks. Occasionally, our favorite attractions are closed for a minor or sometimes major refurbishment.

While Guests prepare for upcoming Disney vacations, much time is devoted to selecting the perfect Resort and dining locations for their trip. What Guests may not always consider are current refurbishments scheduled for their Disney Resort.

Although unwelcome, these refurbishments are needed. Typically, Disney provides advanced warnings for work so guests may choose a different resort. Also, be sure to check out our suggested dates to avoid Disney Value Resorts.

Refurbishment Extended

Disney’s Pop Century is a great option for many guests with access to the Disney Skyliner while still keeping within a Disney Value Resort budget. Last November, The Walt Disney World website issues a warning for guests of a multi-month refurbishment starting mid-March 2025 through February 2026 for guest rooms.

This extended refurbishment took us by surprise, but now, new permits filed expire on August 28, 2026. The Walt Disney World website has not updated a new end date for this project.

This extended date may simply be a buffer if more time is needed for refurbishments. For example, the Everything POP Food Court underwent a refurbishment beginning in July 2024. This project received multiple extensions and is now set to end in April 2025.

Buildings Affected

The new permits filed indicate that Buildings 1, 2, and 3 (the entire 50’s section) will be targeted in April 2025. This will affect the Preferred Rooms at this resort with buildings 1 and 3.

Many guests select a Preferred Room at Disney Value Resorts. These are closer to the main building for both food and close proximity to free Disney transportation.

This may limit resort availability for guests at select times. If you hope to book a stay at Disney’s Pop Century during this time, book your resort room early.
