Surprise Refurbishment at Disney’s Pandora

Surprise Refurbishment at Disney’s Pandora

This refurbishment is a great sign for a more immersive experience for guests visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Even though we weren’t expecting this refurbishment, we are so glad that it is taking place.

The World of Avatar captures the beauty of Disney’s immersive storytelling. As you begin traveling from Africa, you can see the subtle changes to the lampposts, the pavement, and even the sounds you hear as you enter this enchanting land.

In this world, there are two unique attractions: the Na’vi River Journey and the Avatar Flight of Passage. There are various walking paths that guests can take to enjoy the beautiful landscape of this exotic land.

Guests can also adopt a banshee at Windtraders and dine at one of my (Donna) favorite quick service spots, Satu’li Canteen.

As beautiful as the World of Avatar is during the daytime, it is even more breathtaking at night. Unfortunately, many guests are unable to enjoy the bioluminescent flora and other effects in this land due to Disney’s Animal Kingdom closing early.

Guests visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom now notice that sections of the walkway throughout the World of Avatar are blocked off. Work is now underway to repaint the bioluminescent walkways.

The good news is that guests can still enjoy this beautiful land while repainting is taking place, the bad news is that an already busy land is a bit more congested now.

Preparing for Longer Park Hours

Although unexpected, this is great timing for this refurbishment. We recently shared that Disney’s Animal Kingdom will host longer park hours in February, which gives guests time to enjoy this land at night.

Typically, Disney’s Animal Kingdom closes early to allow time to care for the animals. We hope that more extended park hours will be available at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in the future as well.
