New Plans for the Abandoned Galactic Starcruiser

New Plans for the Abandoned Galactic Starcruiser

Star Wars fans really were excited when Disney World announced an exclusive Star Wars hotel. This experience was too costly for most people, and they took the final voyage in late September 2023. Find out the new plan for this deserted space.

The 2-day galactic experience opened to guests on March 1, 2022, after months and months of anticipation. Disney gives guests an immersive vacation including a two-night, cruise-style itinerary.

Guests are the heroes of their own adventures in an experience that surrounds guests in Star Wars storytelling 24 hours a day! The 2-day experience costs $6,000 for a typical family of four.

Unfortunately, this high price tag made this experience unattainable for many Disney guests. After being open only slightly over a year, the Galactic Starcruiser completed its final voyage on September 30, 2023.

Many have hoped that this space may be used as a character-themed meal in Galaxy’s Edge, and we were hopeful when permits were filed back in January 2024. Now, new rumors hint that this space will be used, but not by guests.

The Wrap reported that according to several sources, the Galactic Starcruiser will become office space for Walt Disney Imagineering. At this time, Walt Disney World has several major projects underway.

At Disney Animal Kingdom, a brand new Tropical Americas land, Monster Inc Land will be coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and at Magic Kingdom, a new Villains Land and Cars attraction will be coming soon.

Imagineers are the creative force behind Disney Parks around the world. From restaurants and attractions to entire hotels, they work very hard to bring the magic to us.

This group was first created by Walt Disney in 1952. In the 72 years Imagineering has been around, we have gotten cutting-edge technology like Stuntronics trackless attractions. Be sure to check out what new technology is on the horizon HERE.

I'm shocked it's not going to be a deluxe resort. While it wouldn't bring in the same $$, I think many families would spring for a night or two there and possibly even pay extra for some of the experiences. Many families would book meals or experiences there as well. Bundling it as a 2 day all inclusive was just too high of a price tag, but a family booking a night for 1k and then choosing to add on a $300 meal and a $300 experience, then buying $100 costumes for 4 people you're not too far off the "cruise" price tag but it doesn't feel so different than booking meals, experiences and BBB etc. so they're more willing to pay it. They don't ask us though LOL.

I don't believe permits have been filed for villians or cars as yet so " coming soon " is presumptuous . It took 2 yrs to complete the pathetic water feature with mostly plastic greenery and flowers which breaks down constantly even on the preview day I attended. Many tourists ask why it's in Epcot . Disney has touted a Villians land coming for years and has known about an Epic park coming for 10 yrs . I certainly hope Villians is a land because cars is going to merely be a small dirt track ride called " Beyond Radiator Springs". As a Floridian living next door to Fort Wilderness, I know first hand that we get periods of rain outside of the rainy season so not certain how a mud pit will operate even on a track. We who support Walt's vision and have little faith in the current CEO and other executives are not holding our breath on getting new rides instead of reimagined rides because WDW is the cash cow.
