Today is the first day of the runDisney Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend, and runDisney has made a new addition! Find out what they have added and how it will improve your race experience.
runDisney Chip Timing Issues
During the 2025 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, athletes ran into big problems! Many found that the timing chips on their bibs were inactive!
Many athletes were impacted by faulty timing chips. Some athletes were given the opportunity to receive a new timing chip while others were encouraged to use their own preferred personal timing method.
It appeared that the timing chips impacted were Dopey participants. Disney was able to narrow down what bib numbers were affected; bibs impacted were in the ranges of 21165-22000 and 28001-28087.
Bib Chip Verification
At the runDisney Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend Expo athletes have reported a Bib Chip Verification booth. This Bib Chip Verification allows athletes to verify they have a working and active timing chip in their bib.
runDisney has added a Bip Chip Verification booth at the runDisney Health and Fitness Expo.
It has also been reported that it is not required for athletes to stop by the Bib Chip Verification booth to verify their timing chip.
What Does This Mean for You?
This one simple addition of Bib Chip Verification can ease a lot of athlete’s nerves. It was very stressful for those impacted during the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend.
The Bib Chip Verification is a great way to ensure athlete’s timing chips are active and ready for the events ahead!
By runDisney implementing this quick timing chip check, it can reassure participants that the Marathon Weekend issues will not occur again. Now athletes can focus on those magical miles ahead! Happy running crew!
