Disney+ continues to grow in popularity for many, but recent news of password sharing and price increases causes many concerns. Will Disney increase the price of Disney+ for 2025?
Price Increases
Disney+ debuted in 2019 and has seen many changes over the years. Subscribers delight when new features are added, but typically new specials and added features come with price increases.
We saw this with the addition of ESPN+. Big changes also came in 2024 with changes for password sharing with Disney+.
Subscribers who would like to share their Disney+ account with members outside of their household can pay for a “paid sharing program.” You can learn more about this pricing HERE.
Pricing for 2025
With more content being added to Disney+ many are concerned that prices may also continue to increase. In the past, Disney CFO, Hugh Johnston, shared, “We certainly look to continue to increase pricing based on the value we’re providing.”
Today, during the fiscal 1st quarter of 2025 results, Disney CFO Hugh Johnston shares, “Current pricing is going to be in place probably (emphasis added) for the next 12 months.”
Disney CEO, Bob Iger, admitted that the merger with Hulu did bring quite big price increases for Disney+, but he feels as though this merger was a great move for Disney+. The promise that Disney+ pricing will remain the same for 2025 is great news for subscribers.
Pricing for the Future
For the next 12 months at least, we can enjoy no price increases for Disney+. Looking ahead Johnston shares that Disney+ will not see a dramatic price increase.
Disney+ will “probably” not increase in price for the next 12 months.
Disney+ will increase steadily in price (after 12 months), but this will be a more gradual price increase for subscribers.
What do you think of this promise of no price increases? Do you still feel that Disney+ is worth the current price? Share your thoughts with us, and share this news with your Disney pals.
