Disney Shares Reason for Massive Power Outage at Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom had multiple rides closed last night, many believing it to be caused by a power outage. We now know the reason for the closures.

Last night, multiple attractions were closed at Magic Kingdom. It appeared to be from a widespread power outage.

Almost every land in Magic Kingdom was impacted by the suspected power outage!

At one time last night, 18 attractions were closed! The following rides were impacted last night:

  • Space Mountain
  • Tomorrowland Speedway
  • Carousel of Progress
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant
  • Enchanted Tales with Belle
  • It’s a Small World
  • Mad Tea Party
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • Prince Charming Regal Carrousel
  • The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
  • Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
  • Country Bear Musical Jamboree

This morning, Disney was not sharing any cause for the power outage. However, a Disney spokesperson said that all Guests were safely evacuated from impacted attractions.

Magic Kingdom still held the After Hours (hard ticket) event last night.

When the Magic Kingdom After Hours event started last night at 10 PM, only three rides remained closed. The rides that were not open in time for the After Hours event start were Space Mountain, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and It’s a Small World.

Cause Now Released

Tonight, the reason for the power outage has been released. The power outage that caused the widespread attraction closure was from an air compressor system outage.

Tron and the Haunted Mansion were one of the few attractions not impacted by the outage. Magic Kingdom opened as usual today, and the impacted attractions are operating normally!
